How to keep your dog entertained during Winter

Winter can be a really tough time for dogs, with the cold weather meaning they get less exercise and play time. For day 15 of Blogmas, here’s some tips on how to keep them for getting bored!

1. Get them outside every chance you get. I know it’s cold, but your dog will quickly get bored of being cooped up in the house so getting out every chance you get is really important! Wrap up warm and consider investing in a coat for your dog to keep them nice and toasty.

Get your dog outside, even if they will get extra mucky!

2. Show them some extra love! Make time for your dog and give them plenty of cuddles. Winter can make everyone feel rather down since the days are shorted and the temperature drops, pets included. It’s so important to set aside some time from your day to give your pup your undivided attention.

3. If you have the room, make a long space inside so you can throw a ball for your dog. It gives them something to do even when the weather is bad.

4. If you have access to a car, bring your dog along on car rides with you. This gets your dog outside of the house even when the weather is bad! Taking them to the shops with you and leaving them alone for five minutes, or having someone wait in the car with them breaks up what could otherwise be a monotonous day for your four-legged friend.

What other ways do you keep your dogs entertained during the Winter period? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, Dani x

  1. Great ideas Dani!!
My dog likes to sleep under the blankets in Winter. He loves walks in the cold weather (not snow!!)…absolutely loves car rides but wants the window open but it’s too cold to do it! And also loves playing with his ball in the House. And his treats ball thingy.
